Classroom Procedures for Fourth Grade

Classroom Procedures for Fourth Grade
Recess/Lunch
Recess is your time to play with friends. Make good choices on the
playground. This is your time to run and play. Once in the cafeteria, this is
your chance to talk to your classmates-not shout. Be ready to go when I
come to get you at the end of lunch.
iPads
The iPads are a great tool for learning. Please care for your iPad. Do not
move the icons on the screen. We will talk more about digital citizenship and
care for your iPad.
Restroom Breaks and Drinking Fountains
Please use the restroom before school and lunch, after specials, during snack
and recess, and after recess. Bring a water bottle to keep on the floor by
your table.
Library
Library is once every 4 days, we check out books during this time. Bring your
books back for renewal/return anytime before they are due.
Homework
When you have homework it should be readable, complete, and turned in on
time. You will independent reading and math almost everyday.
Group Work
Working in groups is a great way to learn and we will work in groups often.
We do not make groups so you can be with your friends. Groups are used to
help you learn the most. You will have jobs to do and everyone is expected to
participate.
Lining Up-
Quick and quiet.
Hallway
We will walk quietly in the hallway to class, lunch, or the bus.
Snack/recess time
We have a late lunch, so please bring a healthy snack (granola bars, apples,
etc.) daily. We may have snack outside to get some exercise.
Calling for Attention
Students who wish to share answers or thoughts on a subject should raise
their hand to be called on.
AR Goals and Library Books-
Students must have a book with them at all times. If you don’t have one,
choose a book from my shelf first thing in the morning. You are responsible
for returning library books on time. Our goal is to read at least 30 minutes
everyday. Your AR goal is 15 points for each three-month period.
Getting Help when the Teacher is Busy
There will be times when you will need help and I’m busy with another
student. When this happens, reread directions, ask another student, and try
again on your own, repeat this process if needed.
Telephone Use
Phone use is only for an emergency- not setting up play dates.
Cell Phones and devices
Phones are allowed but must be kept in your locker out of sight with volume
off. Students are allowed to check them before and after school. No picture
taking without permission.
Substitute Teachers
When a substitute teacher is needed, you will take on extra responsibility
for making sure the day goes well and everyone has a good day.
Class Supplies
Extra class supplies will be kept on the top shelf of your locker.
Expectations:
1. Be prepared
2. Listen respectfully
3. Respect others and their property

5. Act like a fourth grader
6. Practice digital citizenship
Our motto:
